It represents the "World Wide Web Consortium." The W3C is a global community with a full-time staff, subject matter experts, and a number of member organisations. Together, these organisations create standards for the World Wide Web.

By creating pertinent standards and recommendations, the W3C aims to guide the Web to its maximum potential. The main method for achieving this is by developing and disseminating Web standards.
